When Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast, John was brought in by the City of Houston to help communicate the message of hope that needed to be conveyed to the tens of thousands of evacuees who had fled to our city. From training manuals for the staff of the hurricane task force, to relocation campaigns for evacuees to website development and product placement, John did it all. His passion and commitment to excellence are unrivaled in the field of communications. I would recommend John to any organization wanting a first-class marketing or public relations strategy.
John defined a communication strategy for our open enrollment process for benefits that established a baseline communication direction we still follow today, for the Human Resources organization as a whole. John identified all of the stakeholders, defined their unique communication needs and went to work on successfully addressing each of those needs. He utilized the expertise of the business community and applied his communication skills and experience to convey the right messages in the right way. By focusing on the stakeholders, and communicating to them appropriately, John allowed us to have the most successful open enrollment experience in Centura’s history.
John Harris has integrated the message of our mission, values, spirit and soul into each of the communication vehicles he has recommended for us. His work for Centura – the largest health care corporation in Colorado and the fourth-largest employer in the state — has helped us create a more inspired workplace. We receive numerous compliments both internally and externally about his writing skills, creativity and overall excellence. John serves as a tremendous strategic resource that showcases our HR function as a valued business partner. I also worked with John at Compaq Computer Corporation, where he led employee communication worldwide for supply chain, and saw strong improvement in our key performance indicators as John and his team brought more focus to our internal communication strategy.
